"Excellent Bruce!... thanks for sharing!... so versatile using the micro-jigs for panfish… presenting them on the bobber, casting and vertical jigging… great methods of getting the tiny baits to the fish zone"
I too, have been using tungsten 4mm and 5 mm ice jigs in the open water with a thill boober for big gills and crappies.5# test power pro high vis line with a 4# test high end mono leader tied together with a #8 spro swivel.Fishing with and without a bobber 18 to 22ft. down in a lake not to far from slip sinker.See More
Hey Bruce, I'd say your dock and marina , early spring panfish tactics are likely overlooked and that could be a good thing if people cant discipline themselves not to keep every thing they catch. There is a comparable gig here in MD's eastern shore where we catch big gills and crappies at the base of millpond dams in spillway holes at the very upper ends of some of our tidal tribs. Fish move up to spawn and some spillovers come in during heavy spring rains...can be like shootin em in a barrel if you time it right.
Hey Bruce...Yes, we do alot of the same fishing for panfish. Anytime you have some thing special please feel free to send it along and maybe I can duplicate it out my way for goood results. Tryin for big yellow perch this weekend at Deep Creek...see ya! Jim
Cool! I should have a shoreline crappie piece out soon in In Fish. I had a real good year last season and got about 75 fish from 13 to 15 in, releasing over half of them. Hope to talk to you and find out some good tactics for our favorite panfish! See ya!
