Monday, I took off and went to Allegan Dam, Allegan, MI. I was hoping to tangle with a Salmon. King Salmon are in, and a local told me they were expecting Coho Salmon any time. We think we saw a…Continue

Allen Morgan has not received any gifts yet
Well, Keystone Dam released some water yesterday, and sure enough, there was a good bit of water coming downriver when I got to my spot. I walked down the emergency boat ramp and saw two swarms of seagulls diving on bait in the water; good signs.

Headed out this morning, first full day of my 2-week vacation. I had three goals that I wanted to accomplish today:
1) Catch some minnows to take home for use as bait.
2) Catch some Shad, again, for bait.
3) Catch some Skipjack, to process into cut bait for catfish.

BOY, was it low! I haven’t seen it this low in awhile. Walking out, I…Continue

I decided to go up to Keystone Dam and throw out some of the cut Skipjack Herring I have, and see if any cats were feeling hungry. I didn’t know how the bite was going to be, as there was no water moving, and we had a cold front come through the day before.

I started off with a size 6 Gurgle-Pop as an indicator bug, with a size 8 BH Wooly Bugger on a dropper about 2’ below the Gurgle-Pop. The first fish decided to go for the Gurgle-Pop:
After a little while, I realized…Continue

Hi Allen. Could you take a look at my recent forum post and give me your thoughts please? Carl Hendricks suggested I reach out to you.
Welcome aboard Allen. Hoping with this group we can really get into the potential of what our finders really are capable of. WELCOME.
Thank you Allen for accepting the invite. Carl Hendricks told me I should befriend you. We were talking fly tying when it come up. I am a muddling beginner at best. Been tying about a year off and on, mostly jigs though...once again thank you Sir....
