Beefcake Bluegill Sunfish Hybrid

I had the good fortune to trick a really nice Bluegill / Green Sunfish Hybrid over the weekend here in Nebraska at a certain private body of water. 

The water was clear enough that I spotted the fish, and thought, "that guy looks pretty big." 

I cast my fly near him and he inspected it but then refused it. I worked him for a while before a small bluegill…

I just recently signed on and I am alot better at fishing than pecking away at this key board, I made a comment to Bruce C.regarding fishing the first Mich. trap attack, learned alot from the locals as well as after the contest sitting with Dave Genz and some of the guys that won. The local guys from Brooklyn Mich. fish with hi-vis golden stren line and tie a scud pattern fly on a short leader about a foot above the ice jig, its the spin that turns off the big gills...
