Whats your favorite lure to use to catch bluegills

Without sounding biased, I use my own Wade's Blade 98% of the time. Tip one of the size #8 hooks with a waxworm, is hard to beat! I've fished Reelfoot Lake in TN and Kentucky Lake. Everywhere I go th…

Twenty words or less for folks wanting more successful bluegill fishing.

Fish deeper water during the spawn! Everyone "beats the banks" looking for bedding fish. You'll be surprised what you find!

Great catch!

Neal You might be on to something? They do make gummy worms after all. We aren't the only ones who think they look good enough to eat. Fish like them too!
August 8
Are they a distant cousin to "gummy bears"?
August 8
Great looking largemouth bass!!! Is that a private pond you're fishing at?

That's a nice bluegill Steve!!! It's amazing that even the small ones fight like they're monsters.

Good bunch of Crappies Greg! Nice catch.

Not sure why us Okies feel like we need to rename fish. Just like the Green Sunfish, we always called them Black Pearch. I wonder how these would survive in a pond?
July 22
So are these easier to catch than the standard RES?
July 22
Gillcrackers always seem to have that distinctive brownish/coppery gillplate markings. I think they're an amazing fish, and I think that they absolutely have a top end potential in the 4 pound range.

NICE!!!!

Hot Crappie! July 16, 2010

Hi Everyone,
Despite the 100 + degree heat index in the St. Louis area, Ty & I went fishing for a few hours this morning & tried out some of the new "Wiggla" jigs I've started making. We were fishing with 20th oz. Yellow Chart. jigs and White plastics.

It didn't take long for us to get into the fish, but we were surprised at the quality and quantity of Crappie caught. If it's this good when it's hot, can't wait to see what fishing will be like in the fall.

Stars and Stripes.....Hybrids

Hi everyone,
Just got home from a belated Father's Day trip at Lake of The Ozarks, here in Missouri. Spent the last three days with family and snuck out early (4:30 am.!) each morning to do some fishing. Nothing like motoring to your favorite fishing spot under the cover of darkness and a full moon!

Ty and I fished for Hybrids early in the morning, using 5" swimbaits, in a shad colo

Those were caught last week before the rain. Ky Lake water level is 9 ft over summer pool. The beds I found last week are in 13ft of stained water now.
The north end of Ky is closed to recreational boating. That has never happened.
The main lake is dangerous now with floating debris and the current is brutal.

Greg I have a 17' Lund also I do not take my boat on the big pond to much cause I catch off shore and you never know when it will turn on you out there. Usually the summer time has the flattest water but the fish are way out (salmon and Trout) but the summer is when the big perch come in take a look at my pics and you will see what I'm talking about. In the fall theres pike and bass to be had and brown trout are in the harbors year round. However in sept you can start tangling with the big king salmon when they come in for their spawning run.Let me know exactly what your interested in going after and the time of year and I can give you a better idea of what you to need to do.

Yes there are some real quality gills in there if you take a look at Musky Mods page you will see alot of them. I wouldn't say all those fish are from the big G but alot of them are.

I try to avoid using flash if possible on fish for that very reason. I agree sometimes it is hard to stop and take pics when the next cast is gonna catch me another fish haha :)

Hi greg
re: pics

greg, I just use a cheapie, a canon powershot sd1100is digital point and shoot.
the main things I do to get good pics is
1. take lots of pics at different angles and distances so I have many to choose from
2. make use of photo editing software to sharpef, brighten and crop, etc...

I'm wondering now. If it could have been mixed up with some of my flathead minnows. I last stocked them back in late spring. Sharon to answer your question I released him back to fattin up and catch again. Don't know why my bass hadn't eaten him yet.
