Fish deeper water during the spawn! Everyone "beats the banks" looking for bedding fish. You'll be surprised what you find!

Gillcrackers always seem to have that distinctive brownish/coppery gillplate markings. I think they're an amazing fish, and I think that they absolutely have a top end potential in the 4 pound range.

Hot Crappie! July 16, 2010
Hi Everyone,
Despite the 100 + degree heat index in the St. Louis area, Ty & I went fishing for a few hours this morning & tried out some of the new "Wiggla" jigs I've started making. We were fishing with 20th oz. Yellow Chart. jigs and White plastics.
It didn't take long for us to get into the fish, but we were surprised at the quality and quantity of Crappie caught. If it's this good when it's hot, can't wait to see what fishing will be like in the fall.

Stars and Stripes.....Hybrids
Hi everyone,
Just got home from a belated Father's Day trip at Lake of The Ozarks, here in Missouri. Spent the last three days with family and snuck out early (4:30 am.!) each morning to do some fishing. Nothing like motoring to your favorite fishing spot under the cover of darkness and a full moon!
Ty and I fished for Hybrids early in the morning, using 5" swimbaits, in a shad colo

Those were caught last week before the rain. Ky Lake water level is 9 ft over summer pool. The beds I found last week are in 13ft of stained water now.
The north end of Ky is closed to recreational boating. That has never happened.
The main lake is dangerous now with floating debris and the current is brutal.

- Yes there are some real quality gills in there if you take a look at Musky Mods page you will see alot of them. I wouldn't say all those fish are from the big G but alot of them are.

- I try to avoid using flash if possible on fish for that very reason. I agree sometimes it is hard to stop and take pics when the next cast is gonna catch me another fish haha :)

greg, I just use a cheapie, a canon powershot sd1100is digital point and shoot.
the main things I do to get good pics is
1. take lots of pics at different angles and distances so I have many to choose from
2. make use of photo editing software to sharpef, brighten and crop, etc...

Nice catch! I never heard them called bluebellys.
I'm wondering now. If it could have been mixed up with some of my flathead minnows. I last stocked them back in late spring. Sharon to answer your question I released him back to fattin up and catch again. Don't know why my bass hadn't eaten him yet.
