Do you love big bluegill?
BIG BLUEGILL SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST
With the help of B. Waldman, the Big Bluegill shirts, caps, mugs, stickers, etc. have been created for you to enjoy. The site charges us a specific amount for each unit sold, and exactly 10% has been added, all of which will go to the prizes for the youth winners.

The contest will be run as follows.
Right after school (about 3 p.m. Central time) a ten question test will be presented. All Big Bluegill members who are in that age group, and all immediate family members of Big Bluegill members who are 15 and under will be eligible. The questions will be primarily science related, and all answers can be found somewhere on this website.
The contest will end on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at approximately 6 p.m.
In the event of a tie, all contestants that are tied for the maximum score will advance to "Bluegill Angling Week".
A control item will be published on Sunday, July 26, 2009, which will consist of a specific bluegill image. Contestants will be required to capture a bluegill that will be shown in a photograph on a measuring board, with the control item in the image. Then the contestants will need to provide a second photograph, with the angler and the control item in the image.

The youth angler who captures the longest bluegill during bluegill angling week wins.
The 10% profit gained through sale of Big Bluegill gear will be split into two equal segments. The first half will be given to the contest winning angler in the form of a savings bond, and the second half will be given to a randomly chosen youth contestant who advanced to the photographic round, but doesn't catch the biggest fish--also in the form of a savings bond.
Good luck. I will keep very careful records of all money that comes available for the scholarship and periodically post the current totals.
Anyone wishing to donate to the scholarship fund in the form of cash or prizes is certainly welcome to do so. I know that a couple of you out there make some pretty amazing jigs!

B Waldman I didn't see any of the T-shirts in blue, gray, or natural.....I really would like another color besides white....but white will do if I have to....thanks

Hey! Where have I been? Missed this thread. Guess the ice storm last January and February out in the Midwest really got me behind. Work really gets in the way of my fishing! Read about this earlier today. This is great. Hope the scholarship grows and grows. Placed my order for shirts, hats, decals, the whole shebang. I think in June we'll start making a push for some ideas on prizes. Maybe we can get enough for all kids who participate to get something fun.

placed my order tonight for my gear! 10 percent seems small, who do we contact to make donations or prizes i could send 10 or 12 zebo kid rigs, but who will distribute them to the winners. all of my kids are grown and the grand kids are not bid enough to fish for a few more years

I don't even know that Big Bluegill clothes and cap already on sale until I noticed on CLICK HERE FOR GEAR
I think maybe add Big Bluegill clothes on sale on MAIN page so more people would find it and order clothes!
I ordered Big Bluegill Golf shirt and will plan to dye it to turn to Olive Green!

A fine project, for sure. Anything to promote us getting the next generation hooked on the outdoors is a worthy pursuit.
My 11-year old was a qualifier on the NEFGA Grammer Nazi contest this past fall. While he wasn't the eventual grand prize winner, he did receive a nice consolation gift of a $25 gift card from Cabela's. With old Dad's matching funds, he is now the proud owner of a new Pflueger spincast rod/reel combo. He's itching to get out and put it to good use in the coming weeks.
Thanks OBG and backers for running the previous contest!! Hopefully, this one will be a success, too.

Steve - Ask and ye shall receive :) All long sleeve shirts come in either white or gray. I was able to add a men's lightweight-T to the site which is available in either natural, gray or blue. Check it out...
