Sharon, I was fishing in Holmes Creek last week, using crickets of course. My picture of 7 different sunfish from one spot included a small bass that hit a cricket. I caught 15 bass in a pond one day on crickets. So I surmise you have started using…

IF peeing by gills is a "guy" thing, that brings up another question. I don't know much but I have seen some things on here that make sense. Males supposedly spend so much potential growth energy in the spawning process that they effectively stop gr…

Good luck getting this question answered. You're going to need it. I refer you to my question from last year. http://www.bigbluegill.com/forum/topics/if-he-pees-on-you-are-you-in . I can honestly say I have paid attention to the pee factor and don't…

Well OK Jim. I think you will really like it. I had tried making one myself and it turned out ok not knowing what I needed in one. This one is better thought out than mine and the beaded part has a stiff cable through it that makes a difference. You…

I bought a fishing vest made mostly of open netting for coolness sometime last year. I toughed it out all last summer. That thing was hot and heavy. It had lots of pockets to play hide and seek in too! Then I came across this somehow. A MAN NECKLACE…

I sooooooooooo enjoy tying my own flies. Nothing more satisfying than to catch a fish on something I've designed or tweaked a recipe for a fly to fit Oklahoma fishin!

And I'm very pleased to meet every one here, Boogie! Thank you for the kind welcome! I am most DEFINITELY going to be a regular on the site: I'm on a mission to break the 3 lb barrier. It's spring, my responsibilities in life are limited to caring for my 90 yr old grandmother, and there's nothing she loves as much as fresh fried bream. Grandma is a sweetie, and she has pretty much knighted me for this holy quest. She loves the way I can fillet a big bream totally boneless, and she wants more. I'm rallying for a trip to bass pro shops this evening to make some very picky purchases, and the "Summer of Bream" will begin in earnest. I am using my last AH#14 hook from my days living in Hawaii, and I need a suitable substitute. I am going to inspect the quill floats closely, and decide if I want to take that step. I need a fine net for scooping bait from the weeds, and a tiny light for night fishing. I will buy small poppers, and dust off my fly rod. I will get a new tip and line for my light steel head rod, because it can cast a MILE. I already have snake boots, fresh batteries in my camera, and two dozen water bottles freezing solid. GAME ON! This summer will be worth writing a book about... life is very sweet!

Thanks for the welcome shout. Found the site in the current issue of In-Fisherman and the 2# Bluegill article. I'm in Ramer, s. of Monkeytown. Best local pond is in Bullock Co (found a moonshine still on the property before I retired from the state)! Look forward to the site and meeting new Bluegillers. My wife would rather hang a big bream than a 10# bass.

I will be doing a post on one of my recent blue gill trips, and their is a picture of the Raider boat in the. This is one handy little boat, it only weights 50 lbs. and I can handle it with ease. I even put a deep finder on it. Academy Sports carries the boats and I bought mime when they were on sale a couple of years ago. I paid 300.00 bucks for it. I use a 30 lb trolling motor with it which make the thing move on the water.

I Pledge To Re-Read The Rules Every Now And Then

In fact, I’m going to go over them right now so I will have a clear understanding of what ya’ll should expect from me. I promise to abide by the rules, and enjoy it!

I pledge not to cross the line, although I’m not too sure I’ll pledge to stay in line. I got a paddling at school in the 1rst grade for that. It was the after lunch, back to class line. I was in it, it started moving and I went with it all the way back to the classroom and sat down in my desk just like we’d been doing… Continue
