David -Thanks to You,Joseph Torres and Bruce Condello I have been educated that what I've been refering to as a Redear is actually a Pumpkinseed.The blue wormlike lines on the PS are the strongest indicater for me as they both have redears.

Ya know David -After seeing a Redeared Sunfish photo and a Pumpkinseed photo I cant tell the difference...Are they two names for the same fish or different in some way?

Dont think so look at that ear flap! I always thought ps were spotted and not mottled like this fish...u got me wonerin tho..i'll get back to you David

John, is the fish in the picture actually a pumpkinseed, rather than a redear?
