Thanks Bruce…..these fish grow well on the available forage, crabs, shrimp, herring, shad and insect larvae…….ironically they are not considered a game fish in North Carolina so commercial fishermen have cleaned out a lot of areas…..but I catch them on all eleven river systems I fish in North Carolina and two rivers in neighboring Virginia…they spawn here in January/February when females easily top two pounds, the North Carolina state record yellow perch is 2 pounds 8 ounces, caught on a creek I fish often…..
