I redesigned my fish trap to look more like the ones that are sold online. They shouldn't be able to get out, if they can get past the ceramic flap I put in from of the tunnel. It may be too heavy

I have made a fish trap out of a rabbit hutch. Has a wire tunnel that is sqeezed flat to about 1" at the end with a nylon stocking over it with the end cut off so they can't get back out. So far, I have only caught 1 bg, and 3 catfish. I have a can of cat food, and some AquaMax in a bag in the trap. Fish don't seem interested in going in, or can't find the opening. Any suggestions?

Due to the lack of rain here, my pond is down about 2', and I now can see what appears to be old bluegill nesting sites. At least they appear old because there is lots of debris in them, and no male bluegill that I can see. Is it too late for spawning here in east Texas?

I surprised a Great Blue Heron in my pond. Usually they fly away before I get to the pond, but this one didn't hear me, and jumped into the water which was too deep for him to take off. So, to get revenge for all the fish he had been eating, I proceeded to chuck sticks and rocks at him. "get out of my pond" He finally got his feet down and came after me. Wow, they are scary. I left, told him he could eat all the fish he wanted. Don't mess with those herons!

What I use is a can of cat food. Punch hole in it. The smell brings the fish to it. I'll take a picture of my trap when I get home.

Well, no fish in the trap. No bait either. Going to try putting the bait in something (nylon stocking) that the little bluegills can't eat it out of. I'm assuming the bg fry ate all the bait. Anyone have some suggestions?

They are a very different fish I'll say that. The best I have figured so far is that they like the bottom and live bait, not to say that they wont strike an artificial, it takes some real skill though from what I can gather and I really admire those…

I am still trying to figure out how to fish for Redear. I have not had much luck with them. The seem to be pretty smart. Do you have tricks you would like to share on catching these guys? Did you happen to get the weight of any of these fish?

They fight just like a big bluegill. I am told you can eat them but haven't tried yet. The ones we caught today went to a friend who has a pet shop. I wouldn't mind trying them though. They are local to south Texas and I would imagine that they eat…

Oops sorry Zach I forgot about need a trout stamp on your license.

Bank access has improved since they began stocking trout back in the late 90's. As of now State regs require a trout license to fish it during the season ($10). If you plan to launch a boat you will need a permit. Not sure about other options as far…

About the only time you can fish Pawhuska from the bank is when they drop the lake for trout season. There is no cost to fish it.

I know, I will have to try it out this fall when the temps drop a bit. Can you fish it from the bank at all, and is there a cost to fish it?
